Wii-bowling

For Mas: Wii Sports has tennis, bowling, baseball, golf and your favorite, boxing. XD

Dad is addicted to wii sports: bowling, we've been having midnight bowling sessions the past few days. (I prefer the tennis myself.)

Mom dislikes the wii, says it makes her sweat. -.-'' (But that's the point, ainnit?)

I think I need to buy another controller one of these days. Dad keeps whacking the main controller against stuff when he bowls. I think he forgets he's holding a sensitive piece of equipment instead of a ball. *heartpain*

I'm turning into a geeky toy lover!!

Piano Apps

My adult student showed me an app on an iphone that makes her practise her note-reading speeds. I thought that was pretty handy so I started mass downloading piano related free apps. Easy way to search is itunes > app store > power search > piano

Here is a quick rundown of which to keep and which to trash.

Amazing Piano Free: Interesting but useless in real-life practice.

Any Sound Piano: Just 14 keys. I have no idea what it is for.

Burp Piano: Don't bother.

Drum Piano: Umm... don't bother again.

Farm Piano: D.B (Don't Bother).

Virtuoso Piano Free: This is more like it for fiddling around with, but with a range of only an octave per page, it is hard to play anything.

Let em play lite: Again, D.B

Meow Piano: D.B (Why did I dld this?)

Mini Piano: Again, just 8 keys. D.B

Musician's Practice Journal Free: Interesting, keeps track of practice time and you can record the songs needed to be practised, complete with BPM. The paid version might have more stuff packed in.

Piano Music Reading Free: This is fun, goal of game is to name all the notes in the set time. Many of them are ledger notes. Good stuff for an app.

Pocket Piano Song Universe Lite: Interesting, though a pain to play the songs.




Conclusion: Pianos aren't meant to be put in an iphone, though some apps are useful in the very least for students. Musician's Practice Journal and Piano Music Reading are particularly note-worthy.

And diamonds won't make me laugh as bad as when I was trying out the wii boxing with Dad.

I didn't even have that on my to buy list: (Laptop bag, iphone all in one car charger, portable harddrive, mac and new iphone pouch) Ended up itching for:

Eneloop batteries and charger (SAVE THE EARTH!)
Cheap in-earphones
wii/ps3 games (even though I had neither console)
1 TB external harddrive (It was only going for $149!)

Did get a silicon cover for my mac keyboard ($15)
and a cute Belkin skin for my iphone ($8)All in all, a very fun day. Though the crowd was a little insane.

P.S Mom's being all emo. Think she feels that Dad lets me have my way too often. But hey, at least I pay for my toys. Half of wiika (I'm calling it that) anyway. (I'm sharing this with Dad) Heh heh heh heh heh....

The things kids say

Lesson with a 7 year old. While having theory, he asked:

"Do you have a car?"

Me: Nope, I don't have a car.

Kid: Your family have a car?

Me: Yeah, my Dad.

Kid: What brand is it?

Me: A Toyota.

Kid: Is it a Corolla?

Me: Yeah, Corolla Altis.

Kid: Altis very popular.

Me: Yeah. (A little spooked now.) What car does your Daddy drive?

Kid: Daddy's car is a Volvo S60, my uncle drive BMW 320I

Me: @.@ ooookkkkaaayyyy.... (Has no idea what the model numbers are.)

The kid then added solemnly. "My dream car is a Porsche, 2 seater, no kids."

Pea Brain / 256 MB memory

It is official. I got my pea sized memory from my dad. Lemme explain.

I am phobic about waking up late these days, I have a regular alarm clock, my phone is set with alarm, curtains above my head are open to make the sunlight wake me up, I even set my mac to auto-start at 6am so the glare from the screen will hit my eyes. But there are days when I am so stoned that I concuss for 8 hours straight.

Which is why I have another back up plan, Dad. Usually Dad's single knock on the door will have me scrambling out of bed. Trained from the times when in Sec school, he will wake me 15 mins before the bell rings. (I swear, it is true.)

Had to wake early for morning lessons in school so I specifically told Dad 3 times the night before to 'wake me up ah. Really, must wake me up ah."

And he clean forgot.

When I pounced on him asking why he didn't wake me up, his face had the 'Oh crap!' look.

LOL.

"Next time, you want me to wake you up, stick a piece of paper outside your door."

Nice.

P.S I am not lazy, my brain just doesn't function when asleep. I have:

-Taken the batteries out of the alarm clock while I am asleep
-Tried to turn off the alarm with my handphone/tv remote/dvd remote
-Mistaken my handphone alarm for a call and answered it
-Mistook my lamp for the alarm clock, unplugged it and stuffed it under my bed

And the list goes on.....

(I even once found my alarm in my wardrobe. Yesh.)

Funny 1st Driving Lesson

Had my first driving lesson today. Think maybe I'm the first student to make my instructor, Mr Lau, laugh this much. But he is EVIL!! Purposely make me freak!! After a quick rundown of the controls, we started driving slowly, while he told he how to change gears and all that. 15 mins later, he went, "Okay ah, you drive ah, I read newspaper" (he said jokingly). I went "HAAAAHHHHH?!?!?!??!?!?" Then he started laughing.

And I thought I was the only one with a twisted sense of humor.

While trundling around-

Mr Lau: You never play those driving games meh? Gran Turismo all these.

Me: Have la, like TEN YEARS AGO! (I was panicking. I have learnt that I cannot talk and drive at the same time, yet.)

Mr Lau: *laugh*

5 mins later:

Mr Lau: You really never drive before meh?

Me: Never la! Go-Kart have ah.

Mr Lau: *laugh again*


The funniest thing I remember was when we were at the traffic lights and I was concentrating so hard on looking at the lights that I didn't notice I was inching the car forward. (There was another car in front of me.) He went, "Okay, brake. Brake. OKAY BRAKE." Freaking out, I stepped on the accelerator instead, took me a coupla secs to figure out my foot was on the wrong pedal. (Luckily I was only in the 1st gear) Then I apologized, saying "Sorry, I dunnoe where my leg is."

And he started laughing. Again.

And he had to keep telling me to relax while laughing, that I was holding the steering wheel too tight, making him hard to help me control.

And I stalled the car five times. Each time I stalled, he laughed. "Because you forget to put back neutral la."

No wonder so people these days get an Auto license instead.

After the lesson, we were talking about exam dates, the closest one is on the 24th Dec (Yep, X'mas eve.)

Mr Lau: Or you want wait until January?

Me: Still got 3 months right? Should be enough right?

Both of us looked at each other for awhile, then went "heh heh heh heh heh."

Seduction of the orange juice

I've had a young beginner come my house to learn because he doesn't have a piano at home. Today, we had a lesson together and when I asked if he has any questions, he asked for water. Remembering I bought 2 bottles of orange juice previously in JB which were quite good, I poured out a full kid-sized cup for him.

Which he swigged down half of it immediately and REFUSED TO LET IT GO!

*LOLS*

I had to tell him to finish the rest later after lesson so we could start on theory since I needed him to write. He reluctantly let go of it.

The moment we were done and his dad came to pick him up, he immediately reached for the cup again and proceeded to polish it off. His dad went "So nice ah?" And he just grinned in reply.

So cute! LOL!

Maybe I should buy more of the stuff. Heh.

Time of Eve

Watching anime when I should be studying has become a chronic addiction. Anyway, do watch Time of Eve, they are short, 15 mins each and only 5 episodes thus far, but so damned funny and plenty of food for thought, just the way I like it. Doesn't hurt that cafes and pianos both feature in it, so ~LOVE~.
