Curry what?!

I recently came across a rather upsetting (to me anyway) piece of news. A local family was asked not to cook curry because the smell offended some new non-local neighbors.

I mean, WHAT?!

Sure, I agree, curry has a rather strong smell compared to the millions of other dishes in the world but surely it's not enough to actually create a binding settlement (a.k.a ban) the poor local family from eating curry?!

Let me list down foods that I will never eat (due to the smell):

-Durians
-Stinky Tofu
-Durians
-Jackfruit
-DURIANS!

As you can see from the list above, calling me a durian hater is an understatement. In fact, I have successfully banned my family from eating them at home (actually I just asked them tell me before they buy any home to eat so I can close and stuff up the cracks in my door first). And yes, I have moaned, complained, whined and raged against neighbors who constantly eat durians especially during the durian season but I have never EVER considered asking them to stop eating them, let alone submitting a complaint.

For a very simple reason, I live is a multiracial society and I am proud of it.

I mean, as a Chinese who contributes to air and noise pollution every 7th lunar month, how can we expect others to accommodate our ways of life if we do not allow others to have their own traditions?

Isn't it infuriating that after so many years of racial harmony (or in the very least, tolerance), we have to start changing our cultures just to suit people who refuse to assimilate into our culture?

I almost half-wished I had the address of *cough STUPID cough* the family in question. I just might 'donate' several bushes of the curry and lemongrass plants right on their doorstep, as a friendly gesture. :P

In the meantime, I will go cook a pot of Jap curry just for myself (mom hates jap food). May the smell permeate Singapore, stink out and drive away all curry haters.

Because Joey asked for it

I know I haven't blogged in ages, I think Joey is the probably the only one who notices but... I'll entertain her for once. :P

Haven't been doing anything much that is noteworthy lately.

Well, there was a change in management in my school.

And I saw the cutest teacher.

Bought air tickets to Korea.

And I am Day 2 into my new health regime.

Okay, maybe there is some noteworthy events happening.

Yep, my school changed bosses, which is so sad. I adore my old boss, Jan. The new one ain't bad, at least she did not make any radical changes to the school, but still, I will miss Jan. :(

Male, Cute, AND a Teacher, need I say more? Okay okay, I don't even know him, but.... so CUTE~!

It was a rather random decision but I had money saved up for a trip, any trip since last year December and wanted to go somewhere with someone who had the smallest chance of irritating me. (Yeah, everyone has been irritating me. Maybe I'm undergoing menopause.) Started talking to Mas recently and I think she needed a break too (don't we all?) and ta-dah! I'm going for a 12D/11N free and easy autumn season Korea Escape in October!

Places that are currently on the itinerary are Seoraksan in Gangwon-do, Hallasan in Jeju and the DMZ.

Which leads to the last point in this post. I have frigging mountains (in my city-girl context of course) to climb and I can hardly walk up three sets of stairs without wheezing, so it's time to workout. (Which was also my 2011 resolution to be fitter.)

Day 1: Half hr of wii tennis and boxing (full strength, not wrist flicks)
Day 1 damage: I cannot raise my arms above my head without wincing.

Day 2: 45 mins of briskwalking
Day 2 damage: To be announced.

Have fun and cheerios!

The political maelstrom

I know, I know, it's been donkey years since I posted anything, but I can't help it. I need an outlet to vent. And where else do I vent, where I know I won't be interrupted? Here of course. :D

Polling day is inching closer and closer and I've been doing so much reading, I think I even know what color underwear the nominees are wearing. (Not really, but still...)

This picture came up while I was reading about and it made me crack a smile even though I am half dead from a full-to-exploding timetable.

LOL! RPG anyone?

I'm not planning to persuade people to vote for any particular party but I do encourage everyone to read up. You can head to mrbrown's, the online citizen, or the temasek review.

I'll just add one last note. People who are in power, and don't want to give up their power, are the ones who should immediately be removed from power.

Take Gaddafi for example. How can anyone claim to love their country when they don't hesitate to bring out the guns on them? Likewise, how can any man claim to protect Singaporeans when they are whoring our country to the rest of the world? Singapore, the country, needs a pimp. It's getting too many customers as is....

Oblivion

My ears are ringing, I am seeing double, but I am still conscious.

I miss the days when I can drink myself into Oblivion.

When I have no plans whatsoever but personal time.

And yes, I work everyday-ish.

Sigh.

Taking down the chatbox

Taking down the chatbox for now, I realized that weirdo's are spamming it.

Won't be blogging as much, addicted to work and game right now.

Happy Chinese New Year folks!

I'll see you around...
